My Confirmation

Today, dear Lord, these vows I take --
Vows which, for me, did others make,
When Thou bestowed baptismal grace,
And in Thy Church gave me a place.

I am Thy child by grace alone,
Since for my sin Thou didst atone.
The life I give Thou gavest me
To live and use, in trust for Thee.

I now renounce world, flesh, and, too,
The devil strong -- Thy will to do.
I pray for strength 'Gainst selfish pride,

I too my faith and love confess
And pray for grace my life to bless.

This steadfast faith that I affirm
Do Thou, by grace, in me confirm.
